Payam Vahedifar M.D.

Non-Operative and Interventional Management of Spinal Disorders and Muscle and Skeletal disorders, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Payam Vahedifar, M.D. is Board Certified in both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Pain Medicine. He has been practicing in both these specialties for more than 10 years. He specializes in nonsurgical and interventional treatment and pain management of the musculoskeletal system. He has appointments at UCLA-Santa Monica Orthopedic Hospital, as well as Providence Tarzana, Providence St. Josephs and West Hills Hospitals.

Dr. Vahedifar graduated with honors from UCLA and subsequently graduated from Tulane University College of Medicine where he did extensive research on nerve associated pain. He subsequently completed his residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UCLA Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Multi-campus Residency and its affiliated hospitals including Shriners Hospital for Children, Wadsworth Veterans Administration, Orthopedic Hospital, and Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center. Dr. Vahedifar continued his training under the head of Orthopedic Spine Surgery at Orthopedic Hospital and did postgraduate training in spine and interventional spine treatments. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, a Diplomat of the American Board of Pain Medicine, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Dr. Vahedifar is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

In addition to his clinical duties, Dr. Vahedifar has provided team physician services to the NBA Summer Pro League and served as a clinical instructor in the Sports Medicine and Kinesiology Program at California State University, Northridge. He has given many presentations on subjects such as conservative treatment of injuries of the lumbar and cervical spine both in university settings as well as on health education programs and media appearances on television.

He has been awarded the Patient's Choice Award by Vitals.com for 2008-2011 and is a nominee for Top Docs L.A.; he has also served on the board of the Hereditary Inclusion-Body Myopathy (HIBM) Institute, a nonprofit organization that conducts research to find cures for myopathies. He has also served at the chairman of the UCLA Health Fair and received the UCLA Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Community Service.
